April birthstone: diamond

Diamond is the only April birthstone — no traditional/modern split, no alternative. It’s also the only gemstone that’s the “wedding stone” (60th and 75th anniversaries), the engagement stone by cultural default, and birthstone for an entire month. Either you’re indifferent about it, or you live with it your whole life.

Choosing the right diamond

For a birthstone gift, the right diamond depends on the wearer’s existing jewelry style and the occasion:
